International Curatorial Studies _ Field of Practice: INTERFERENCE Tunis

“The Curators’ Project” is a program of studies and training for artists and creatives, art historians and theorists, cultural producers and activists who aim to improve their skills and competences as producing curators. It is backed with an international network of projects of research, exhibition and discourse with focus on light in visual art. The members of the network will host a variety of fields of practice and debate from a solo internship to collective programs to improve curatorial practice on light in visual art.

Project Phases

[1] Until July 12: Application and matching
[2] Until July 31: Online co-operation with the local team
[3] Until August 1: Arrival in Tunis
[4] From August 1 to September 12: Practice in Tunis with collective research and lectures, workshops and debate, production and documentation
[5] Until October 6: All reports online
[6] Evaluation meeting at one of the next shared exhibitions projects

Participants’ Framework

[1] Participation in the curatorial collectives of INTERFERENCE directed by Bettina Pelz and Aymen Gharbi
[2] Participation in one of the focus teams of the curatorial collective of INTERFERENCE, the focus teams are:
– CANDELA – Light Art in Africa
– Light in Visual Art: Artists’ Groups, Collectives, Movements: France, f.ex. GRAV
– Light in Visual Art: Artists’ Groups, Collectives, Movements: Germany, f.ex. BAUHAUS / ZERO
– Light in Visual Art: Artists’ Groups, Collectives, Movements: United States, f.ex. LIGHT AND SPACE
– Light Art meets Cultural Heritage
[3] Participation in artist’s care
[4] Participation in the artistic production
[5] Participation in communication and pr, including art mediation
[6] Participation in organization and administration

The Language

The Curators’ Project is an English-speaking and writing project. In Tunis, knowledge of Tounsi, Arabic and French are welcome.

The Offer

Participation: INTERFERENCE Tunis will accept up to 6 participants
Participation fee: Free for the selected participants

Travel: No travel support
Accommodation: INTERFERENCE offers up to 2 months accommodation, last day of departure: September 15
Catering: From August 31 to September 10: one collective meal daily
